# A Therapist for Springfield, Oregon

Springfield is minutes from my office, and for most people here the practical question is not whether therapy would help. It is whether it fits around a shift.

## Close Enough to Be Realistic

The office is at 132 E Broadway, Suite 303, in downtown Eugene. From most of Springfield that is a short drive across the river: Main Street to Franklin, or straight down Highway 126 and into downtown. For people out toward Thurston or Gateway it is a longer haul at rush hour, which is worth planning around rather than discovering on your first appointment.

It matters because the appointment you can actually get to is the one that works. A drive that only fits on a good week quietly becomes the reason people stop coming, and stopping usually gets blamed on motivation when it was really logistics.

So we solve for that up front. An earlier or later slot, a Saturday, or telehealth for the weeks when the drive is not happening.

## Shift Work, School Schedules and Saturdays

A lot of Springfield households run on schedules that do not resemble a nine-to-five: swing shifts, hospital rotations, trades that start early, seasonal work, two jobs stitched together. Most therapy availability is built for people who can leave a desk at two in the afternoon, which is not much use to you.

I hold hours Wednesday through Friday from ten to six and Saturday from ten to four, and the Saturday hours exist for exactly this reason. Families with kids in Springfield Public Schools or Thurston often find a weekend session is the only one that does not cost a missed class or a used-up sick day.

If your schedule rotates, we can hold a standing slot in one week and a different one in the next rather than pretending it is stable.

## What Springfield Families Tend to Bring

I see children as young as four, teenagers, adults, seniors, couples and families, and the mix from Springfield skews toward family work: parents trying to figure out a child whose behavior at school is being read as attitude, co-parents making two households function, adults handling a separation while keeping everything else upright.

There is also a steady stream of adults recognizing autism or ADHD in themselves late, often after a child's own difficulties made something click. That work has nothing to do with getting a label from me, since I do not assess or diagnose. It is about what changes once you stop reading yourself as lazy or too sensitive.

None of this requires you to arrive with a name for the problem. Most people describe a situation, not a category.

## Telehealth Across the River

Telehealth is not a lesser version of this. For plenty of people it is the better version: no drive, no parking meter, no getting a child into the car twice. Sessions run from wherever you can shut a door, and I am licensed to work with anyone located in Oregon.

It suits some work better than others. Adults, teenagers who prefer a screen to a face, parent sessions and co-parenting work usually translate well. With younger children I generally prefer to be in the room, at least at first, because play is hard to do through a camera.

Many Springfield clients mix the two: in person when it fits, remote when the week gets full. That is not a compromise, it is just how a schedule works.

## Starting

The first step is a free 30-minute call. You tell me what is going on, I tell you plainly whether I am the right fit, and if I am not I will say so and point you somewhere better.

I do not take insurance, so payment is private pay. Individual sessions are listed on the rates page along with a sliding scale, and I would rather talk about cost early than have it become a quiet reason to quit.

If you are in Springfield and unsure whether the drive or the screen is right, ask on the call. It is a normal question and we can decide it together.
