For someone downtown, a session is a walk and an elevator. For someone in Oakridge, Cottage Grove, Veneta, Junction City, Florence or out a long gravel road, it is a half-day with fuel and weather attached. That difference is not a detail. It is the reason a lot of rural households never start therapy at all, or start and stop after four weeks when the drive collides with winter, harvest, a shift change or a car that needs work. So the honest version is this: if you can get downtown, the office is here. If you cannot, telehealth is not a fallback I offer reluctantly. For much of this county it is the only arrangement that survives contact with real life. ## Rural Distance and What It Does Living further out changes the texture of the problems people bring, not only the logistics. Smaller communities mean fewer providers, longer waits, and a real concern about privacy when everyone knows whose car is parked where. People often delay much longer before asking for help, so by the time they call, the thing has been carried for years. There is also the isolation itself: long winters, a lot of dark, work that is physical and solitary, and a culture that quietly rewards not complaining. That is not a criticism of anyone. It is context that belongs in the room. None of that requires you to become a different kind of person to do therapy. Plenty of people who would never describe themselves as the therapy type do this well, because it turns out to be a practical conversation rather than a performance of feelings. ## Who I See Across the County Children from age four, teenagers, adults, seniors, couples and families. Common threads across the county include autism and ADHD support for both kids and adults, trauma including childhood abuse or neglect, anxiety, grief, life transitions, parenting support, co-parenting across two households, and divorce. Rural families frequently come in around school. A child whose difficulties are being read as behavior, a district with limited specialist support, a long drive to any other option. I cannot assess or diagnose, but I can help you understand what you are seeing, work with your child directly, and help you ask the school for what is reasonable. Seniors and their adult children are another steady thread, often about loss, changing capability, and decisions nobody wanted to be making. ## Telehealth That Works Where the Signal Does Not Telehealth across Oregon means I can work with anyone located in the state, and most of Lane County is well within that. Sessions happen from a home, a parked car on a lunch break, or an office with a door that closes. Connection quality is a genuine issue in parts of the county, so it is worth naming rather than discovering mid-session. If video keeps failing, audio alone works better than most people expect. If your household has no private room, we can plan around that too. A session in the car in a quiet lot is a completely reasonable arrangement, and it is more common than you might think. Some people come to Eugene for a first session and then move to telehealth, which tends to make the remote work feel less strange because we have already met in a room. ## Getting Started From Anywhere in the County Start with the free 30-minute call.
